For many drivers and transporters, a good tarpaulin is the difference between a delivery and a disaster. Here is how to choose one.
A transporter’s reputation travels with the load. When grain, goods or equipment arrive dry and intact, customers notice. A tarpaulin that fits and lasts is one of the simplest ways to protect that trust.
Start with your vehicle
- Super-link and interlink trucks need larger, specific sizes.
- Trailers and tipper trucks each have their own shape and fixing needs.
- For smaller vehicles there is a bakkie / pickup cover.
Measure what you carry, not only the body
Load height changes how much overhang you need to tie down safely. Measure body length and width, then the height of your usual load, and tell us if loads vary a lot.
Think about handling
A tarpaulin is heavy once it is wet. Consider who will throw it over the load, and whether a lighter weight or a different arrangement would be safer for them.
Seams, hems and eyelets
These are where tarps usually fail first. Ask how they are finished and where the fixing points are placed. If none of the standard sizes fit, a custom tarpaulin made to measure is available.
